  1. Hi Jerry, another interesting show.

It’s funny that you talk about change in this show. My Assistant Scout Leader and I were talking about the old badge scheme we did when we were kids and ‘how much better it was’. After discussing the various merits of the old and new, I said that in 20 years time, the then leaders will be saying how much better things were in 2008! It’s like you say, that’s the way the Scouts (BSA, SA, whoever) want things done, so we do it. As long as it’s fun for the kids. Change and new stuff are good, it keeps Scouting fresh. Only change for changes sake isn’t.

Our uniform changed about 7 years ago and it too was designed to be more ‘user friendly’ on activities. I don’t remember the kind of debate that the BSA are having happening and our uniform change was well accepted. Mind you, there hadn’t been a significant change since the late 1960s / early 1970s. It was long overdue!

Thanks for the mention in the last show. I’m honoured to be thought of as your buddy!

    Keep up the good work

    Nick

  2. Uniforms and summer camp. Two things near and dear to a scoutmaster’s heart.

I am looking forward to seeing the new uniforms. Maybe the boys will enjoy wearing the new ones more then the existing uniform.

And as for summer camp… I bet you could do three, four, or more shows just on stories from camp. I know I could.
